August 1 2015: This page will change constantly for the next 2-3 months. Some Brands have already announced the new models but others won’t tell us about all the changes to their lineups until the middle of September. As I get the new information and reviews written, I’ll post it here.

Update: August 9. This is the list of current single stage snow throwers available for the 2015-2016 snow season. You will find other models at various retailers but they are either discontinued models or no-name Chinese stuff. Next, I’ll write over-view articles of the different brands.

Remember! I’m here to help you find the best for you! It’s not what I think is best….

Single-Stage Snow Blower Reviews

Single Stage snow throwers are easy to maneuver, transport and store. For light snows they are much faster than a two-stage machine. But they only work on hard surfaces like cement, blacktop and patios. Because they clean right down to the surface they will not work on gravel and may scratch your wood decks. Many owners have both a single stage for light snows and a two-stage for the deep stuff.

Gas powered single stage snow throwers will easily move up to 6 inches of snow and throw it 15 feet or so. A few will clear up to 9 inches. Most single stage gas powered snow throwers are 20 to 22 inches wide. (Toro SnowMaster 24 inches)

Electric single stage snow throwers work well for small areas, steps, patios and decks. They range in size from 12 to 21 inches. In reality they work for 4-5 inches of snow.

Cordless single stage snow throwers work well because you don’t have to drag a cord with you. They all throw snow for about 20-30 minutes on a charge. (most listed run times are for no-load) They for small areas, steps, patios and decks. They range in size from 12 to 21 inches.

NOTE: Prices listed are approximate and are for comparison only. Please see retailer’s website or brand’s dealer for actual prices.

Gas Single Stage Snow Throwers

All single stage gas snow throwers are self-propelled by the front rubber auger EXCEPT the Toro SnowMaster Series. The SnowMaster uses the Toro Personal Pace for propulsion. NOTE: There are a bunch of imports available. If you don’t see the brand name listed here – be careful and think twice before you buy it – you may not be able to get parts or service if it breaks.
